MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING SIGNED WITH FIVE PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES TO ESTABLISH CAREER CENTERS
(Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 05 Feb. 18) Dereja, a product of Info Mind Solutions PLC (Ethiojobs), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gambella University, Jigjiga University, Jimma University, Samara University and Mekelle University to establish Career Centres within the universities. Dereja is a sister product of EthioJobs, established to address the need of students, fresh graduates and junior professionals to enhance employability. This is the first nation-wide University Career Centre initiative in Ethiopia, and Dereja is proud to be paving the path for students’ career development success.
The MoUs are an agreement between Dereja and each university, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, under the new concept of Deliverology, to establish and operationalize Career Centres that will assist students in their career development. The Career Centres will not only address the needs of the Ethiopian job market, but also help guide the students through their career development path and equip them with career readiness support intended to create a marketable, confident, and knowledgeable labor market.
The Career Centres will provide various services to university students including personalized career counselling, workshops on CV and cover letter development, job fairs that will bring together employers and candidates, as well as arranging visits for students to potential employers. The Career Centres are mandated by national policy to reduce unemployment particularly among fresh graduates. The Centres will be staffed with Dereja-trained career counsellors who will work hand in hand with other administrative and academic staff members to provide contextually relevant and up- to-date advice to students.
Together with the Ministry of Education and other programme partners, Dereja is committed to supporting the government’s goal of having 80 % of graduates secure jobs within one year of their graduation.
Dereja.com, the newest product from Info Mind Solutions PLC, is an online platform created with the aim of increasing the employability of Ethiopian youth by creating access to structured professional development resources and bridging the gap between the labor market and the job market.
